Cold Brew vs Iced Americano.. what's the difference?

Cold Coffee is Cold Coffee right? Wrong.

We're talking about Cold Brew vs Iced Americanos in today's blog, and their subtle but importance differences!

We want to ensure there's a coffee for everyone as we all have different favourites so here's a quick guide on which type of cold coffee is for you!

Let's dive in..

WHAT IS COLD BREW?

Cold Brew is a method of brewing coffee using cold water over a long period of time, and if you were to make it at home from scratch be prepared to wait 12 to 24 hours. Don't worry though, we've got it ready for you to drink in a can!

You steep coffee grounds in cold water, resulting in a smooth, less acidic coffee concentrate that can be served over ice.

HOW IS IT MADE?
  1. Grind: Start with ground coffee beans.
  2. Brew: Steep the grounds in cold water for 12 to 24 hours.
  3. Filter: Strain out the grounds to leave a pure, smooth coffee concentrate.
  4. Serve: Pour over ice and you’re ready to enjoy!

The extended brewing process extracts flavours from the coffee beans more gently, resulting in a naturally sweeter and smoother taste, that’s perfect for sipping on a sunny day.

You can try our sugar-free & vegan Cold Brew in two flavours: Original Black or Chocolate Fudge!

WHAT IS AN ICED AMERICANO?

An Iced Americano, on the other hand, is all about that bold espresso kick, chilled to perfection and topped up with cold water!

So for this, you simply add cold water to a freshly brewed espresso, then pour it over ice. This method maintains the strong, bold flavour of espresso but with a refreshing twist.

You can choose from either our Energising Colombian, Super Blend or Bright-Eyed Brazilian Beans for a caffeinated kick or if you want all the flavour and none of the caffeine, use our Brazilian Swiss Water Method Decaf!

HOW IS IT MADE?

  1. Brew: Make a double shot of espresso.
  2. Dilute: Add cold water to the espresso.
  3. Serve: Pour the mixture over ice. Simple and delicious!

This method keeps the espresso’s robust flavour intact offering a refreshing and invigorating coffee experience, making it a favourite for those who enjoy the classic espresso taste.

If you want to make this with our Instant Coffee then simply take 2 x teaspoons of your favourite Instant and some cold water to make a mini espresso.
