Instant coffee gets a bad rap – but only because most of it is, well.. not great. We’re here to change that! Our Barista Grade Instant Coffee isn’t your typical instant. It’s smooth, clean, high-quality, and most importantly.. delicious. Here are five reasons why our coffee stands out from the rest!

Most instant coffee is made from low-grade, mass-produced beans. Not ours. We use specialty-grade beans – the same high-quality beans you’d get in a proper café. That’s why we call it Barista Grade Instant Coffee!
And guess what? We’re the only company in the UK (that we know of) doing this. That means our Instant Coffee is super high quality... and you can tell!
3. It’s Super Clean & Free from Nasties
We take quality and health seriously. That’s why we lab-test all of our coffee to make sure it’s completely free from heavy metals and mycotoxins. We’re also 100% pesticide- and herbicide-free, so you don’t have to worry about any hidden nasties in your brew!
Worried about chemicals in decaf coffee? No need! Our Decaf Instant Coffee is naturally decaffeinated using a food-grade organic solvent derived from algae. And if you prefer fresh coffee, our beans are decaffeinated using the Swiss Water Method – a totally natural, chemical-free process that keeps all the flavour intact.
4. We’re the First Instant Coffee with a Controlled Caffeine Level ⚡
Did you know that a regular cup of coffee from a high-street café can have anywhere from 30mg to 300mg of caffeine? That’s like buying a bottle of wine and not knowing whether it’s 8% or 80% ABV.

Our founders, Helena and Simon, discovered this while training for an Ironman Triathlon back in 2014, a year before they started TrueStart. They were drinking a lot of coffee and noticed that sometimes they’d feel jittery, and other times it wouldn’t have much of an effect at all.
So, they set out to create an Instant Coffee with a controlled level of caffeine. Each tin of our coffee has a serving suggestion and tells you exactly how many mg of caffeine you’re getting per cup. That means no surprises – just a smooth, steady energy boost with no crashes or jitters!
5. It’s Freeze-Dried for Maximum Flavour ❄️
Most instant coffee is spray-dried, which means it’s blasted with high heat to dry it quickly. The result? A burnt, bitter taste and a brew that’s lost most of its natural goodness.
We do things differently. Our Instant Coffee is freeze-dried, a much gentler process that locks in flavour and all the natural goodness. Here’s how it works:
✅ The coffee is brewed and frozen at ultra-low temperatures.
✅ The frozen coffee is placed in a vacuum, where the ice turns directly into vapour (a process called sublimation).
✅ The coffee is then broken down into shards/granules..What’s left? Pure, flavour-packed coffee granules that dissolve instantly – plus, our Instant dissolves in both hot and cold water!
